Zinc Outlook: New year demand seen higher than 1949
Howard I. Young of American Zinc & Smelting Co says zinc use in 1950 may reach 750,000 to 775,000 tons, with 869,000 tons produced in 1950 if no major labor disturbances occur. Slab zinc consumption fell in 1949 due to steel strikes and reduced brass and die cast demand. Zinc prices dropped from 17.5 cents to around 9.5 cents by year end.
