C-54 Missing With 37 Aboard

A four engine U S air force C 54 transport with 37 people aboard disappeared on a flight from Okinawa to Clark Air Base near Manila. Twelve air force and navy planes searched until dusk as weather halted operations and ships near the Philippines were alerted. The craft carried 30 passengers and seven crew.

Bank Robber Eludes Police In Downtown Heist

A 28 year old white gunman robbed the Bank of Douglas downtown, stealing $31 469.83 in cash as armored car money had just arrived. Five Air Guard Units Get Call

The air force announces it will call five air national guard groups and a number of supporting units into federal service on February 1. A brief statement said the designation of the units or the bases at which they will be assigned would be announced later.
