One Dead Seven Injured in Car Crash Near Marana

A single vehicle ran off the Casa Grande highway two miles north of Marana shortly after noon today. One person died and seven were injured. The crash raises Pima County 1956 highway fatalities to 58. Ambulances from Tucson and Eloy responded. the body was sent to Reilly Funeral Home.

Nehru Speaks Tonight After Gettysburg Talks

Eisenhower and Indian Prime Minister Nehru arrived in Washington after an overnight Gettysburg visit and more than 12 hours of informal talks on world problems. No subject details were released though domestic policy topics were expected to be discussed.

Nehru to Broadcast Nationwide Speech Tonight at 9 15

Prime Minister Nehru's nation wide radio speech will air tonight at 9 15 over KOPO with no other stations scheduled yet for radio or TV. Eisenhower and Nehru finished talks yesterday around 10 30 p.m. Nehru continued working into the night until about 1 30 a.m. preparing the talk for 11 15 p.m. start.

Tucson to See 638 New Homes Under Low-Cost Plans

Tom Carr of California firms Sueno Casas Inc. and Arcal Inc. announced 638 homes for Tucson on two sites. One 138-unit project on Tangerine Drive near Oracle Road and a 500-unit project on 27th to 29th Streets between Alvernon and Swan Road, with prices from 18 000 to 25 000 dollars and 7 000 dollars for the 500 homes, all FHA financed. The Oracle Road plan, Canada de Oro Estates, will be built on 330 acres and is described as gracious living for low income buyers. The 29th Street area is to be completed in two years with three bedroom houses and low down payments. Carr cited 50 dollars as the start to ownership, not a down payment. The project includes Ray Fairfield and Carl Angle, all of Riverside, California.

Home Offered To Orphans Of Wreck

A Burbank woman Patricia Bly offered to adopt seven Allies children orphaned by a Sunday night Phoenix car train wreck that killed nine members of the Mexican family. She described a 300 acre ranch with 112 horses and a swimming pool as suitable for a large family and said she and her husband already have two adopted children. A radio plea urged help for the orphans including Cruella Allies, 20 months old and critically ill in a local hospital.

The board, after a Supreme Court remand, eliminated testimony of three government witnesses but found the evidence still supported its original finding of April 30 1953.
