Georgia-Pacific foresters in Cottage Grove Oregon cultivate genetically superior Douglas fir seedlings in greenhouses to shrink the time to a second crop from 80 years to about 30 40 years. They plant eight to ten inch six month old seedlings using a cone plug method to reduce shock and promote straight healthy growth.

Worker’s fall kills another on New York construction site
A construction worker fell 30 floors and landed on a fellow worker, killing him. The falling man died three hours later. Police cite harness failure as a possible cause for 28-year-old Robert Hauner of Stony Brook. The other victim is 22-year-old Michael Pagano of New York.
