Rent Free Housing at Chamber Draws Fire in Tucson
Cecil James L. B. Pederson, SSCA president and Montgomery Ward manager, called rent free housing for the Tucson Retail Trade Bureau in the Chamber of Commerce Building a violation of the chamber’s purpose. Frank E. Drachman of CofC defended the arrangement as benefiting both groups and denying city funds. The dispute follows Dec 4 remarks by Gordon Kipps, and Pederson stated the SSCA board would discuss the matter in January.
