Consumer advocate targets TV ads in child nutrition debate
Consumer advocate Robert B. Choate urges action against TV commercials he calls manipulative toward children. He cites 22 000 to 25 000 yearly ads and four hours weekly of commercials for a child who watches regularly, urging parents to act as watchdogs at home and in the supermarket. Ralph Nader joins the critique, advising parental involvement and correspondence to Choate and to Action for Children's Television.
