Bells Ring Out For Nativity Scene In Tucson

Church bells ring tonight at 7 45 for the Nativity Scene opening on the Court House patio. About 30 churches join the event with the Tucson Boys Choir singing six numbers under Eduardo Caso. Gov. Ernest McFarland attends and speaks, with Dr. Francis Roy as master of ceremonies. The project began in 1949 and materialized in 1952 with Tucson Woman's Club aid.

California Bid Denied on Colorado River Suit

The U S Supreme Court denied California’s request to make Colorado Wyoming co defendants in the Arizona water rights suit over the Colorado River. It allowed Utah and New Mexico as parties only to their Lower Basin interests. order vote was 5 to 3. Chief Justice Warren abstained.

United Nations Members Move To Break Admission Deadlock

Fifty two U.N. members voted for a package plan to admit 18 countries, inviting a special meeting to resolve the deadlock. House To Consider Bill Ending Sales Tax To U S Government

The Arizona House scheduled a committee of the whole this afternoon to consider passage of the Senate bill ending the two percent sales tax on goods sold to the federal government.
