O’Crotty files $1.5 million breach suit over iron ore project

Peter O’Crotty, former radio news commentator, sues in Federal Court alleging a conspiracy to oust him as a partner in an iron ore venture. He claims he would have earned $250,000 in royalties over five years and that Westchester Mining Co. and related defendants formed to remove him. Desert Iron and Steel Co. was to consolidate iron ore interests in Pinal County.

Shrimp Catch Soars in Gulf of California Fisheries

In Guaymas shrimp cooperatives report record hauls with 30 million pounds caught since September 1. Oceanic of Nogales, Arizona shipped 9 million pounds. This season exceeds last year's 20 million plus, as about 215 boats operate locally. Nationwide Gulf exports to the U.S. hover around 150 million pounds annually.

Collision Huris 5 Near Wilcox

Three people injured in a two car collision near Willcox were listed in fair condition today at Tucson Medical Center. Among the injured are Glenn Lem 68 his wife Beatriz 58 of Roofe Inna and Mrs Ruth Phillips 72 of Staples Minnesota. Two others injured yesterday Lorenzo Ramos 27 and Enfilo Trefino 31 both of Mercedes Texas were hospitalized in Willcox. Highway patrolmen said the Ramos vehicle skidded broad side into the opposite lane and was struck by a car driven by Mrs Lent.

Masons Install Tomorrow Night in Tucson

The Tucson Daily Citizen reports installation services for the Aaron iatve Ru Free and Accepted Masons will be held at 8 p.m. tomorrow in the Red Room of the Scottish Rite Temple at 160 Scott Ave. Worshipful Master will be Jules Shariesky, 1918 Amalia Ave. The earlier report incorrectly stated Sunday.

Push Button Telephoning Expands In Tucson Area

Mountain States Telephone introduces Touch-Tone dialing in Flowing Wells as part of a 921000 project adding lines and phones. The system uses a 10 button keyboard and costs 1500 per month plus a $5 installation fee, with gradual nationwide rollout planned. Prescott earlier adopted the service, and full Tucson availability is set for June 1966.

Teens for Better Government Formed by District 9 Democrats

District 9 Democratic Legislative Club sponsors a new group called teens for Better Government formed by 17 teenagers. Jack Mead, club president, says the group will meet December 2 at 7 30 p.m. at Mead’s home 3242 N El Burrito St. Sheila Howard is chairman with Jackie Morehead as vice chair and Candy Weber as secretary. The aim is to teach youths about government by active participation and observing political groups in action.

Albany report notes the first state operated alcoholism treatment unit for women opened at Central Islip State Hospital in Suffolk County. Male patient units already run at Central Islip and Rochester State Hospital.
