A Trans-Canada Air Lines DC4 with 62 aboard disappeared last night in a gale near the Chilliwack area. RCAF searchers, including 12 planes, combed from Hope toward Vancouver as radar fixes suggested the craft could be anywhere within 30 miles of Hope. The missing aircraft carried 59 passengers and 3 crew, and included four Saskatchewan Roughriders bound for the East-West Shrine game. The last radio contact came when Captain Allan Clarke asked to descend from 8000 feet. a stormy wind and poor visibility hampered search efforts into the morning.
