Plea for Unity Faces Navajo Council Split Over Adviser

WINDOW ROCK Navajo agency superintendent Glen Landbloom urged unity for Tribal Chairman Raymond Nakai as the 74 member council opened its winter meeting. The council is divided over Nakai's bid to remove Norman Littell from his $35,000 a year role as tribe’s Washington-based legal adviser. Landbloom warned of ongoing controversial incidents reflecting on the Navajo tribe and BIA. The council voted 47 to 1 to approve a 40-item agenda. Today's session includes Littell and Dr. Charles S.
