Cattle and hog markets show mixed movement with feeders and calves steady to higher in places. Denver reports varied cattle and hog quotes, Chicago shows declines in hogs and steady cattle, Kansas City notes steady prices for cutter to medium grades and mixed hog demand.
Cattle salable 500 with steady to strong bids. Good Idaho steers 15.25 to 15.50 per pound. cows 10.65 to 12.00. canners and cutters 7.50 to 9.00. medium bulls 10.00 to 10.50. grand champion shorthorn steer 4.25 per lb. Calves salable 350 steady with medium to choice calves 13.50 to 14.50. Hogs salable 400 with about 360 head back. few 290 lb hogs at 15.00 and 390 lb at 14.85. few good sows 14.50.
New York market midday mixed as investors showed skepticism after a string of gains. Leaders faltered late with varied advances and declines. top performers included Westinghouse Great Northern American Telephone Goodrich Sears Roebuck Kennecott International Harvester and Ryan Aeronautical. Laggards were U S Steel Bethlehem N Y Central Southern Pacific Chrysler Anaconda General Electric Johns Manville. Solar Aircraft Diana Stores Pittsburgh Metallurgical Tilted forward with continued activity.
