Rombach resigns as chief probation officer in Pima County
Lionel Rombach, chief adult probation officer for Pima County, will resign effective July 1 to pursue another position in the department. Judge Ben C. Birdsall called the resignation voluntary and said criticism over a recent case involving Mitchell Darby did not influence the decision. Rombach cited organizational growth and administrative demands as reasons and said he is more effective as a practitioner than an administrator, pledging support for the department’s next leader.
