Congress weighs tax on Salt River power revenues
ASHINGTON December 5. The house irrigation committee debated a bill to bar taxation of revenues from the Salt River project power operations. The measure, already passed by the senate, would keep profits from being taxed as dividends and require revenues to retire project debt into a reclamation fund. If taxes were imposed, proponents warned it could endanger irrigation projects nationwide. Local officials warned such taxes might push the Salt River project out of business. War bond sales in Pima County lag, with E bonds reaching 3,647,425.75 dollars.
