Carmen at university auditorium falls short of expectations
Review of the Boston Opera Co Carmen at the university auditorium describes Leonora Corona as overweight and unsteady on stage. Conducted by Francesco Foti, the performance suffers from weak orchestration, uneven Don Jose Rene Caselar, and strong supporting gypsy roles Jeanne Comfort and Lillian Thomson. The reviewer calls it a substandard one night stand, with Verdi’s La Traviata on tour next.
