Scenic 252 mile parkway proposed along Colorado River
The plan seeks a 252 mile scenic parkway on both riverbanks costing 150 to 300 million dollars from the Mexican border to Davis Dam. It would cross multiple land types including 145 miles of public domain and 12 miles of Indian reservation land. Arizona Wildlife Federation opposes citing wildlife refuges and desert bighorn sheep impacts. Alvin Hurst says it meets a public need and will be presented Saturday at 10 a.m. at Richard Simis School library.
