Old West Lives On In Germany
In Germany the Wild West fascination endures through Karl May who wrote 70 books about Abe Shatterhand and Winnetou. Festivals in Bad Segeberg and the Munich Wild West Club mark May's enduring legacy while stores sell boots and costumes and even East Germany preserves a Karl May Museum. May never visited the real West and later ceased writing about it.
