Four Receive Terms In Jail
Four persons were sentenced to jail and prison terms in superior court today while two others received suspended sentences by Judge J Mercer Johnson. L T Dunn a Negro residing at 241 S Convent Ave was sentenced to five to seven years in the state penitentiary on his plea of guilty to robbery. His wife Flossie received a five year suspended sentence while accomplice Raye Owen was sent to the county jail for six months. Owen’s charge was reduced from robbery to receiving stolen property. Frank M Young of Tucson was ordered to six to seven months in the county jail for illegal possession of narcotics after police found marijuana. Earl Herbert Stoddard 37 of 3333 Flowing Wells Rd received a three year suspended sentence on his plea of guilty to grand theft admitted stealing two tires valued at $173.62 on Aug 28 1947 from Texas Arizona Freight Lines Inc. Chester W Turnbull 41 of Tucson got a two year suspended sentence on a bogus check charge admitting he cashed a $10 bad check July 3 at a local cafe.
