A 90 day rabies quarantine was ordered in southern Yuma County after three rabid dogs were found. County health director Bill Rice announced the measure covering Yuma Somerton Wellton the Yuma and Gila valleys and the Martinez Lake area.

Calfornia Crash Kills Seven On Freeway Abutment
A Fontana California station wagon carrying ten people crashed into a freeway abutment killing seven. The driver a six year old, two boys died instantly and four others died en route to Kaiser Foundation Hospital. Three survivors were injured and listed in critical condition.

Tennis Ball Kills Hippopotamus at Jakarta Zoo
At Ban dung Zoo in Jakarta a 15 year old hippo died from internal injuries after a tennis ball became lodged in its stomach. Antara reported the ball, reportedly too heavy for ten men to lift, caused the fatal injury. Officials said an idle visitor may have thrown the ball into the hippo's mouth.
