Washington Aug 6 The Senate passed a compromise housing bill aimed at speeding small home construction with no low rent subsidies. The measure, approved 48 to 36 to replace the Taft Ellender Wagner bill, overrode the banking committee which backed TEW. The TEW plan had called for government aid in public owned low rent slum clearance projects.
