Bulgaria acknowledged its two fighter planes shot down the Israeli Constellation last Wednesday near the border with Greece. The government promised to punish those responsible and to prevent a repetition while citing regional tensions and repeated air frontier violations.
Dag Hammarskjold met separately with U S Ambassador A Alexis Johnson and Red China’s Wang Ping nan in Geneva to discuss easing Far Eastern tensions and repatriation of about 40 American civilians and an unspecified number of Chinese students. The meetings were kept secret with recesses for capital instructions.
Congress adjourned sine die after seven months, approving a housing bill amid White House objections and settling pay raise disputes, while leaving fourteen Eisenhower requests unacted. The session yielded some foreign and defense gains but left major highway and school construction efforts stalled for next year.
Eleven American fliers freed by Communist China arrived in Canton in South China. U S officials expected their freedom to continue with a return flight planned for tomorrow. In Long Beach California a four year old boy named Larry Spangler reportedly placed an object through two holes and could not remove it. His mother Harlene called firefighters who removed the object safely. Larry’s mishap ended with the item returned to its proper place.
Arizona Corporation Commission delays appointing an auditor to review Tucson Rapid Transit books to assess a possible wage increase after a 33 day strike and a 30 day truce. TRT offered a five cent raise beyond a $1.45 top wage. drivers demanded 75 cents more. Max Millett & Co. is eyed as auditor. no appointment yet.

Boston beat Chicago 6-4 behind Jack Jensen’s two run double, leaving Chicago one game better in the standings. In the NL Pittsburgh edged Chicago 3-2 in the nightcap of a doubleheader behind Jerry Lynch’s pinch double.
Three Spanish speaking youths linked to prior crimes were questioned about Armida Soto death. None admitted knowledge of how the 20 year old mother’s body ended in a vacant lot beside 28 West 32nd Street.
Billito Race Track Inc and Edward Torosian of Detroit filed appeals to the state supreme court over judgments involving Dragonette and a $40,000 note. Torosian holds the note and the track faces judgments to several Dragonette creditors. Judge Lee Garrett ruled the transfer of the note to Torosian was designed to defraud creditors.
Tucson tonight features the Arizona Corral Theatre presenting Oh Men Oh Women at 8:30 PM. The Santa Rita Hotel Rendezvous Room hosts James Moody and his orchestra at 9 PM, with Carnegie Library Bookmobile stopping 9 AM to noon at Frontier Village.
