A Boston medical consultant reports studies showing eight highballs daily may cause fatty liver in a relatively short time even with a balanced diet. Dr. Charles S. Lieber notes this level equates to about 12 ounces of 86 proof whisky per day and urges caution.
Detroit UPI report says Judge Frank G. Schemanske offered John Abraham, 58, a chance to go free if he could recall his prior drunkenness arrests. Abraham replied 240 times. The judge checked the record and granted his release.
The U S Army dispatched four convoys along the Autobahn from West Berlin to West Germany, passing Soviet checkpoints without trouble.
