The Douglas High School FFA chapter will win three awards at the state leadership conference at the University of Arizona on August 10. The chapter earns a superior rating and, with Coolidge, competes nationally, along with other Southern Arizona chapters. Awards include National Chapter Safety, Building Our American Communities, and recognitions for several chapters. Tom Wilson of Willcox earns nomination for American Farmer, while 10 adults receive honorary degrees. The report also notes a drop in work days lost to strikes in the first half of the year to the lowest level in nine years.
