Tombstone Visit Fulfills Ambition
By Dave Peldman Oregon elder B W Checking of Mt Angel fulfilled a life dream by visiting Tombstone Arizona to see former acquaintance Ed Schieffelin and to visit his monument and Boorhill cemetery. Checking served on Schieffelin’s coroner’s jury in 1897 and recalls the night Ed died of a heart attack and was buried in Tombstone with his prospector’s pick and canteen.

Ambulance reports say a car carrying an eight youth group from Fremont junior high school crashed on the way home from a movie. Riot at Texas state hospital held three inmates
Eighty insane patients at the Texas State Hospital in Rusk rioted wielding an icepick and took hostages. Five were released, three including superintendent Dr. Charles W. State health department officials plan mass polio vaccination for first and second grade children in Arizona. A Salk vaccine supply arrived by air express and will be moved in refrigerated trucks to communities statewide. Distribution should finish by next Thursday with clinics starting Monday April 25.
