By Guy Thackeray the Friday after Easter draws Tucsonans to San Xavier del Bac for a luminous Fiesta. Thousands attend the mission, grotto, and field views as fireworks light the night and a red cross burns on the hill outside the city wall, marking a lingering, personal devotion.
The Tucson League of Public Schools will hold a special meeting at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Unitarian Church. Richard Duffield, president, says the group will discuss the defeat of a school aid measure in the State Senate and the possibility of an initiative drive to obtain another form of aid. The league supports equalization tied to need rather than the ADA provision.

Khrushchev and Hungary's Janos Kadar observed a 1 minute parade at a Stalin base in Budapest after explosions greeted the event. A Saraswathi girls high school in Madurai collapsed at noon as classes were in session. Early reports say about 50 students and 5 teachers died with many more injured. Rescue teams searched the rubble for survivors.

Investigators examined Paulos after a blast caused a small fire quickly put out by Station 7. Detectives and the intelligence unit searched the interior while gas officials and investigators noted possible explosive material. The incident recalls prior blasts in 1954 1957 and a 1954 chain of damages linked to local establishments.
The Arizona House and Senate agree on a standard speed law replacing the old reasonable and prudent rule. The bill sets 70 mph on freeways, 63 mph on primary and secondary roads, and 60 mph for night driving, pending Gov. Fannin's signature and legislative adjournment.
A year old Tucson man pinned between two cars south of Tucson on Highway 80 at 11:30 am today is in critical condition at St Mary’s Hospital. Fete G Muniz 5127 13th Ave was working on his car parked on the roadway when a second vehicle driven by Fernando A Romero 2701 4326 8 ard Ave struck Muniz and his car in heavy rain. Romero was treated and released. Two passengers in Romeros car Frank Nevarez 1941 W Water St and David Monreal 313 W 44th St suffered scalp lacerations and were treated at St Marys. Monreal released Nevarez in satisfactory condition.
