Murder and Arson Charges Linked to Wholesome Tragedy

Investigators said traces of undigested food were found in the stomachs of the mother and one child. They reported the mother and at least one child died hours before a fire began. Neighbors recalled waking to flames around 7 a.m. and finding the beds unused. Pace, a base comptroller staffer in accounting and finance, had been at D-M for five months.

Federal Prisoners to be moved after second jailbreak in Tucson

Federal Bureau of Prisons will transfer 22 inmates from the Pima County Jail Annex to other facilities after a second jailbreak in a month. Three suspects escaped by sawing through bars and climbing from a cooling duct to the roof. Names listed include Ronquilo R. Vasquez Edward Montano and Carlos Proano Para. Sheriff’s officials cited security problems and overcrowding at the annex built in the 1940s and reopened in 1972.

Voyager I Tests Winds on Long Journey to Jupiter

Voyager I about 700000 miles from Earth heading toward Jupiter tested solar winds and prepared its instruments to send back messages as it traveled at nearly 23000 miles an hour. The spacecraft launched from Cape Canaveral Florida performed computer programmed sequences to calibrate its instruments and read radio waves from other stars.

Ocean cracks proposed as deep dump for nuclear waste

Washington scientists say cracks in the eastern Atlantic floor could bury plutonium canisters under sediment for up to 250000 years. The Commerce Department released research by Karl E Turikian and Peter Rona describing the ocean floor fissures as a capacious natural prison for a lethal waste repository.
