The monsoon returns from off Baja California and moves into Arizona by Saturday. Expect dark clouds and scattered thunderstorms with a 30 percent chance of rain tonight and tomorrow. Temperatures will ease into the mid 90s with lows in the 70s. Yesterday hit 99 and 80.

A $2.11 September credit for natural gas customers stems from a Federal Power Commission adjustment reducing El Paso Natural Gas Co. rate increases.
Rod Shields, a 27 year old sound and stage lighting technician at the Tucson Community Center, is among three city employees laid off after an Aug 1 budget cut. The payroll trim of 1.8 million aimed to eliminate as many as 33 jobs, but most eliminated posts were reassigned. Shields received no reassignment and faces unemployment on Sept 1.
