Sixty seven men from class 1 September registration were called for entrainment to Kelly Field San Antonio. On Nov 11 the local selective service board was notified by Adjutant General Harris. About 644 Arizona white men are physically qualified for general service. the final party may reach 75 with transfers and delinquents. Influenza conditions may affect dispatch decisions. No large prior consignments to Kelly Field from Pima County have occurred.
Paris January 29 F Alapetite named ambassador to Spain and becomes French resident general in Tunis Senator Flandin to Tunis after transfer. The reshuffle places new officials in key diplomatic and colonial posts.
Two American pilots Lieut. Samuel Colton and Lieut. L C Holden downed German planes near Grand Pre and Fontaine. Holden credited with four victories and Colton with three. White attempting aid crashed into a German machine. four other aviators were missing. Allied air raids caused extensive destruction west of Grand Pre Briquenay and Piave battles in Italy continued with Austrian prisoners and heavy river-crossing operations. NATO forces advance toward Oderzo with multiple corps making progress.
Drafted men over 31 will be assigned to shore service with modified physical training. Training commands were ordered to phase in older men gradually to avoid health risks from too strenuous exercise or overwork during early stages.
