University students dance La Jinbu on UA mall during International Week

University of Arizona students danced La Jinbu an African dance on the UA mall as International Week continues. Ron Hoover kept the beat on conga drums while regional foods and daily dance and music performances are slated from noon to 1 p.m. through Friday, featuring Latin America Europe the Far East and the Near and Middle East.

Tiny Tim and Miss Vicki Divorce in Camden Court

Tiny Tim and Victoria Budinger Miss Vicki were granted a divorce in Superior Court Camden after a lengthy separation dating back to December 1973. The case filed in August 1975 ended with Judge Paul Lowengrub rejecting residency challenges and ruling the marriage dissolved. Tulip the child will stay with Miss Vicki no support sought.

Cochise Farmers Deliver Petitions for Parity Bill

Petitions bearing signatures from 77 Cochise County farmers were delivered to U S Sen Dennis DeConcini in Tucson urging federal parity for crops. Farmers threatened a strike if Congress does not act by December 14 to cover costs of operation amid rising irrigation and pumping expenses.

Five Die In Washington Gay Club Blast And Fire

A blast and fire at a Washington club for men caused at least five deaths and seven injuries, several serious, with victims found inside on the second floor where a film was playing. Fire crews forced a rear door to reach unconscious patrons as smoke filled the building. Victims were not immediately identified.

Cemetery construction okayed by court in Tucson

A Pima County Superior Court commissioner ruled the 125acre cemetery near Old Spanish Trail can proceed despite a temporary injunction bid by plaintiffs Paul and Florence Rossi and Thomas and Sandra Baron. The suit, against the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tucson, alleges deception in land transfers to real estate agent George Griswold to gain rezoning approvals and seeks court fees. The judge noted some claims unresolved and estimated annual costs of about $207,000 to maintain the project.

Workers quit smoking win rewards in plant bets

In Spring Grove Illinois Infermatic Inc president Jim Miller paid 2815 to 25 of 64 employees who quit smoking for a year. The program included up to 100 per participant plus 1000 shared among winners. More than 700 others contributed bets to the cause or to charity.
