Kiel harbor cannot accommodate all submarines that returned from Ostend and Zeebrugge in the last week. Some lie off sick according to Advices received.

Oct 22. The correspondent reports Douai in ruins with hundreds of houses damaged. The Grande Place suffered complete destruction on its south and east sides. Many southern houses burned. the city hall looted of candlesticks and archives scattered amid the debris.
The German general headquarters say American attacks Monday north of Sommerancé and along a broad front near Lys and Scheldt were repulsed with heavy losses. Northeast of Courtrai tanks and strong forces advanced but were repulsed. Serjeant Mueller destroyed six enemy tanks.
