City assumes ownership of Tucson House landmark

The City of Tucson now owns the 17 story Tucson House at 1501 N Miracle Mile as part of a 12 million federal grant from HUD. The building will house elderly and handicapped residents after repairs, a process expected to take about one year. Officials estimate 2 to 4 million in federal funds are needed to bring the 411 unit building up to housing standards.

Legion Post 282 to open without a bar in first nationwide

Atlanta’s American Legion Post 282 dedicates a non drinking facility with security patrols and renovated spaces. The project includes energy upgrades, new roof, fire safety gear, and executive offices in the penthouse. The building will relocate income based renters and offer market and sliding scale rents. Federal funds total 12 million to replace La Reforma Homes and create 162 low income units citywide plus 28 elderly units at W Congress and Grande.
