The New York supply scare hits poorer residents with higher rye bread costs and rising white loaf prices. Rolls fall to six for five cents while 10 cent loaves climb. Coal and wood costs jump as anthracite sells at 1.13 a pound and wood at $20 per cord.
Mrs August Kersten of Houston and her husband unearthed about $10000 in gold pieces from beneath a tree in the yard of her grandfather's former home after a twenty year vision. They claimed the treasure as theirs citing a message from the dead. Local occupants observed the digging triggering an investigation that exposed the discovery.
New York on October 11 lists Mexican dollars at 403c, silver at 505c, copper between 11.50 and 11.65 per unit.
Hon. Marcus A. Smith, Delegate to Congress and Arizona Democratic leader, returns from Europe in good health and reflects on international markets, Germany, England, and Ireland. He urges Arizona voters to elect Colonel Wilson as his successor to secure statehood through continued Democratic support. He will address citizens at the opera house at 8 pm tomorrow.

Gen Powell Clayton reports Mexico has formed a commercial commission to probe Central and South America for export trade. The group will tour Brazil Peru Ecuador Colombia Costa Rica Nicaragua Honduras El Salvador and Guatemala carrying Mexican goods samples. They also plan to seek subsidized direct steamship links with these governments.
Four bodies found in sacks behind the Central College of Physicians and Surgeons identified as grave robber victims. Seventeen arrests include nine African Americans, three white doctors, one colored undertaker, cemetery proprietor, and three watchmen.
In Paris on October 13, aeronaut DeBraaskey and his companion were killed when the balloon car detached from the balloon after about ninety minutes of flight. The ropes broke from unknown cause and the car and occupants crashed to the ground, instantly killing both.

The killings occurred near Stewart Island and a fourth murder of Gilbert Dufor is alleged.
In Nogales Arizona on October 13 an altercation occurred in front of the Montezuma House between Sheriff Turner and Col. Allen T. Bird editor of the Oasis. Bird had claimed in his paper that jail prisoners were registered to vote and Turner assaulted him severely.
