White House asks study of heroin and marijuana for cancer pain

Landlord may discriminate by occupation says New York court

A Manhattan state Supreme Court judge ruled that landlords may deny rentals based on a tenant’s occupation or intelligence. The decision, called regrettable, centers on Judith Pierce who alleged race and marital status factors, while landlord Stanley Stahl cited her profession as a lawyer and her awareness of rights as reasons to refuse. Pierce agreed to a settlement with $1,600 to drop the human rights complaint, complicating any appeal.

Judge commits acquitted kidnapper in Indianapolis

Anthony Kiritsis, acquitted by reason of insanity for a televised abduction, has been committed to Indiana Department of Mental Health after a judge ruled he remains dangerous. Their honeymoon ends in a windy crane mishap

Doug and Gail Hervey, newlyweds married Nov 1, were in a trailer suspended 60 feet in the air as part of a station promotion when a wind gust tipped the rig. The trailer crashed to the ground but the couple escaped unharmed. The couple had earned about $100 daily during the promotion sponsored by KILT radio and a trailer company.
