A ten acre World’s Fair exhibit will feature a scaled landscape titled a miniature of the country. The layout includes a central hill and waterways designed to showcase regional flora. Gopi oversees the planning and coordination of the display elements.
The government exhibit at the World’s Fair will showcase a two acre map of the United States in growing plants with state lines marked in red gravel and state flowers. W J Spillman arranged for ten acres opposite the Agriculture building to feature crops like Kansas corn and Florida oranges, with forced glass plants for unsuitable climates. Over 4,000 wheat varieties and many corn types will be shown along with disease control, potato inoculation, plant breeding, and dune stabilization through vegetation.
John Rode, an inmate at Michigan City prison, told Warden Reid he buried $115 saved from his pension in a sand pile after fleeing on parole from highway robbers. He returned to the penitentiary asking to be readmitted, claiming happiness inside. Rode, an elderly trusted inmate, reportedly stole a horse to gain admission.
In Evanston the university instructs female students to occupy seats in the chapel's northern section away from male peers. The policy follows earlier restrictions on coeds marching in the installation parade for President James and prompts talk of a petition by the women.

The State Department says the United States will not delay the Panama canal project for Colombia’s terms. It will begin digging on the Panama route, paying $40 million for the purchase and proceeding while negotiations continue.
Across major cities from New York to Dallas voters queued early. Reports noted arrests for illegal voting, a shooting at a Brooklyn polling place, and police redeployments in New York. President Roosevelt voted at Oyster Bay and election results were to be wired home.
Jacob Stosser of 299 Wells Street is accused of posing as multiple women including Mary Martin to lure men through matrimonial ads. John Kaiser Valentine, from near Festus Missouri, paid 36 for an introduction. After Stosser failed to provide Mary Martin, Valentine notified police and Stosser was arrested.
Cuthbert J. Gad of New York claims he was swindled out of 25000 dollars by the sale of a salted placer mine at Nome last July. Gad bought the property for 100000 dollars paying 25000 down. R J McArthur and J F Ray are named as responsible. McArthur was arrested in October at Council City and released on 3000 bail after a Nome grand jury indicted him for obtaining money under false pretenses.
Danbury Connecticut November 4 A well to do farmer Thomas Seymour recounts inviting a young couple who eloped from New York to marry at his house. A clerical man and witness attended the ceremony and Seymour endorsed a discounted note for 250 dollars which he may have to pay.
In a ranch duel thirty five miles north of Big Springs Texas B C Johnson died after being shot while riding. The fight over cattle followed by John T Joyner surrendering to officers with a $3500 bond. Johnson about 35 and childless Joyner about 30 and single.
Springfield November 4. Governor Yates is better today with a temperature of 101 and favorable conditions reported.

John Porter of Mattoon Illinois received a $1000 check the first installment of a $50000 settlement. His sister and brother will each receive $50000. The claim dates to a grandfather who aided during the Revolutionary War when French ships were destroyed by US gunboats. The family pursued the claim for generations until $150000 was allowed at the last Congress session.

The deal would unite Armour Swift Morris and others with yards in Chicago Kansas City East St Louis St Joseph Fort Worth South Omaha and Sioux City with potential stock between 300 and 500 million and officers likely Swift president Armour chairman.
