In INITA I T May 18 John P Dunn the alleged murderer of Sheriff Powers of Clarksville Arkansas is reported located in Oklahoma. A posse of deputy marshals with Sheriff King of Clarksville pursues Dunn who is closely guarded by friends. Powers was killed by a gang bank robber Dunn had previously escaped custody in Wichita after a Kansas arrest amid a clash over rewards. Governor Stanley ordered an investigation and offered a reward for Dunn’s capture.
Benjamin F. McAtee, 60, a wealthy farmer near Glenarm, is sued by Miss Neltter F. Clayton for 10000 damages in the Santa Mon circuit court alleging breach of promise. The case filed May 13 in Springfield Illinois highlights a social match turned legal dispute.
The bill alleges McAtee proposed marriage to Miss Clayton on Christmas day 1397 and that she is ready to marry him, though he has shown a different frame of mind. She twice asked him to keep his promise. Years earlier McAtee’s wife obtained a divorce and remarried.

General Firmin, Haiti’s former Paris minister, reportedly proclaimed president in Cape Hatien as news spread of firmin support in the north.
In Clarksburg West Virginia on May 13 a group of six women in silk and satin with large brooms were placed in forced city labor to clean streets. They swept dirt into piles, were arrested for defying a mayoral warning to avoid streets after sundown, spent the night in jail, and were ordered back to work the next morning to serve their sentences.
