Return of Confiscated Property Wins for Defense in Court
In Mattoon Illinois on July 26 a court heard the case of two alleged confidence men, E B Hoone of St Louis and D C Clark of Chicago, whose funds and letters were seized after a three card monte swindle. Detective Norris, posing as a Baltimore and Ohio Southwestern agent, secured a power of attorney and argued to recover the swindlers belongings. City Magistrate Scott ordered the seizure’s balance returned to the accused with Attorney Voigt keeping key letters as possible evidence.
