Regents approve UA laetrile standards and hospital rate ruling

Arizona Board of Regents approved a limited UA role in setting laetrile preparation and manufacturing standards pending Health Services approval. Regents upheld an 11.5 percent rate increase for University Hospital and noted UA gifts totaling 46.6 million with 29.7 million from research. Also authorized capital outlay funding for 1978-79 and sought 37.9 million from the National Cancer Institute for a regional cancer center.

Four held in Tucson auto theft ring arrests

Tucson police linked four men to a six month auto theft ring with 13 stolen vehicles from Tucson Green Valley Marana Las Vegas Michigan and Ohio. John D. Machacek 33 facing six counts of possession of a stolen vehicle and four counts of VIN alteration. G R Wood 46 charged with three counts of possession of a stolen vehicle. James C Nickell 26 charged with one count of possession. Edward Montano 18 charged with possession. All released on bond as detectives expect more arrests.
