Fire damages Woolco store in Tucson blaze
A two alarm fire started outside the Woolco Department store at 4150 E 22nd St in Tucson when hot roofing tar ignited asphalt paper. About 40 firefighters responded. 200 people evacuated. 90 minute closure of East 22nd Street. Damage estimated at 10000 with no injuries.

Tucson to stay in PAG with funding cut by 10 percent
The City of Tucson will retain PAG membership but reduce its funding by 10 percent from 1976-77 levels, with total contributions to PAG set to about 47 percent from Tucson and Pima County each, South Tucson 4 percent, and Oro Valley and Marana 1 percent each if others resist the cut. PAG also reallocated $33 million in federal funds to five highway and downtown improvement projects, including north south Campbell Avenue, Davis Monthan edge road, I 10 safety work, downtown street upgrades, and general street and downtown district improvements.
