Prank death phone calls terrorize Orange County families
More than 100 residents in Huntington Beach and nearby communities received calls from someone posing as a police officer saying relatives had died. Victims described immediate fear and grief as the caller claimed a terrible accident and asked to verify bodies at Hoag Hospital. many learned their loved ones were safe after contacting relatives. Det. Art Droz says the MO was repeated across the area with various fake officers.
