A contract signed by local officials with Southern Service Power extends a high tension line from El Centro to Yuma, totaling nearly 1100 miles with an estimated extension rent of about five thousand dollars. Completion and operation are due by April 15, 1917, enabling irrigation of up to half a million acres in Imperial Valley and powering two dredges at Hanson’s Heading. The firm aims to sink a deep shaft to explore lower limestones. geologists say ore may lie north and south of the Bisbee West fault. If development proceeds, the first work will be sinking a shaft after the road completion, with plans spreading to the Bisbee district and neighboring companies.
