An explosion at the Crucible Steel Company sheet mill in Pittsburg injures seven men by scalding, one badly cut, and twenty lightly hurt. Two of the seven scalded are expected to die as seven boilers exploded due to frozen pipes during the blast.
A. W. Crawford of George H. Cook & Co returns from Bisbee with news that $3500 to $4000 in stolen diamonds remain unrecovered after last week's robbery. Two thieves, Williams and John Devereaux, are bound over with bonds of 1200 and 1000 dollars respectively. Authorities chase a third suspect believed to have escaped with the diamonds. The Jewelers Association coordinates on clues to locate the remaining goods and culprit.
