United States Attorney Anderson leads inquiries and will meet the president as cabinet discussions guide recommendations to Congress. Anderson directs nationwide investigations with assistant Oliver B. Pagan coordinating procedures while Congress postpones action until after the holidays.

London dispatch reports the Belgian steamer Keltier of 3000 tons and the Norwegian steamer Meteor of 4211 tons, both sunk after departing from Newcastle and Philadelphia respectively, with crews saved.
New Orleans December 8. A violent break of more than five dollars a bale swept the market as liquidation and short selling followed the census bureau report showing cotton ginned to December 1.

Two men robbed the Winslow State Bank around 2 PM taking between 6060 and 7600 dollars after forcing the cashier and assistant cashier at gunpoint. They fled in a car left outside the door and headed toward Sioux City, about 60 miles north.

Washington reports six thousand National Guard men selected by Major GeneralFunston to depart from the border. The units listed include New York divisions and field hospitals, engineers, infantry regiments from several states, artillery, signal corps, and ambulance companies. The movement aligns with federal policy to retire guardsmen from border duty as soon as possible.
The First California field artillery and the DC militia corps left Teeson for Nogales this afternoon to return immediately. Troops began the 2 o’clock march and the order was unexpected. The Chamber of Commerce dinner for the officers was canceled. An Alabama infantry regiment is expected Sunday and a cavalry troop is due December 16.

The agriculture secretary's annual report recommends making the Grand Canyon a national park and shifting supervision from the Forest Service to the National Park Service. Italian merchant Bovio testifies that Francisco Villa visited his Chi huahua City home and demanded foreign merchants meet at Villa's temporary headquarters to arrange a forced loan. Bovio recalls Villa stating he intended to kill only Americans.
Sir Ernest Shackleton will sail from Dunedin New Zealand on December 16 to rescue ten marooned Arctic expedition members near the Ross barrier. Captain Mackintosh and nine Aurora crewmen are in the group, stranded with scant provisions after their ship broke away in a blizzard twenty months ago.
