Extraordinary case of a Lambeth murder house on East street
In Lambeth East street a family of Cannin g ham s, seven members across two generations, were found dead or dying in a ruined house. Neighbour Mrs Moss reported the deaths after noting the remaining siblings appeared ill and refused coffin orders. A surgeon, and parish officials, found two living bodies in a state of putrefaction. Four coins were found hidden, and the house showed extreme squalor despite regular rent payments. The bodies were moved to Lambeth workhouse.
