Lease held by Mr Gilpin for 1000 years from 1603 at peppercorn. part freehold with contingent interest not exercisable until 2003. City surveyor and Montague valued freehold and leasehold at 1,199 pounds 17 shillings 60 pence and 1,200 pounds 23 shillings 6 pence respectively, proposing 2,400 pounds 53 shillings as compensation if limited contingencies arise.
