Four Die as Auto Is Struck by Pennsylvania Train
Four people die near Augusta cemetery when an Oklahoma bound Ford touring car is struck by a fast Pennsylvania train between St Jacob and Troy. Victims include M H Pahl and wife, their daughter Elsie, 26, and nephew Robert Gundeman. Eyewitnesses say the train, about 70 mph, plowed the auto apart. bodies taken to Collinsville and Oklahoma for burial. Coroner returns open verdict of accidental death.

Opening of McCray Dewey academy enrollment begins
The McCray-Dewey academy opened Tuesday for enrollment and classification with a total of thirty three students. Of this number twenty are first year students and more are expected later. Regular classwork will begin next. The academy promises a very successful year. St Pauls Lutheran and St Jeromes Catholic parochial schools also began Tuesday with good attendances. Troy public school will begin the 1914 15 term next Tuesday.

Mrs. Louisa Buhrmester widow of Christian Buhrmester died at 2 AM at her home one mile west of Troy. She was 80 years, 4 months, 3 days old and had suffered a stroke last May, with health declining since. Survived by two daughters Louisa and Emma. Funeral Monday at 2 PM from the residence to St Paul Evangelical Lutheran, burial in Lutheran cemetery. Teachers: Miss Alice Mantle leaves for Hebron North Dakota.
