Stranger probes belt road site near Troy in mystery

A visitor of unknown name arrived in Troy on Wednesday and toured the St. Louis Troy and Eastern line area where the proposed belt road would cross. He asked questions about the belt road and switching facilities but offered no clear intentions. Locals speculate a new enterprise may be planned dependent on belt road plans. The belt road would run Allan to Waterloo, touching most roads from East St. Louis, with surveys complete and grade stakes set. No right of way negotiations have occurred locally. E. C. Dank of St. Louis, linked to the Troy and Eastern, says the belt road is assured. The Davidson Store Company invites attendance at its annual cloak and sale on Friday, October 12.
