Father Takes Child in Cross Bill Divorce Suit
J W Porter of this city plans to file a cross bill in the divorce case recently filed by his wife Mrs May Porter who has gone to live with her mother Mrs Jennie Hill in Collinsville. Porter asserts he acted to secure custody of their two year old daughter after learning of Mrs Porter's continued relation with a former boarder. The scene on Main Street in Collinsville drew attention as the boarder Jerry Wright was restrained by Chief Blake and fined. Mrs Porter may pursue habeas corpus to obtain the child while the divorce proceeds address alleged neglect by Porter. He says he will present strong testimony in Collinsville.
