Two Farm Houses Burn Near McDowell Country
Fire destroyed the Hagler country home east of the city, injuring Mrs. Hagler who tried to save a cat. The blaze spread after a match under a lounge during a cat scare. Neighbors aided but much of the property and valuables were lost. Nearby, the McDowell estate southeast of town also burned, likely from a faulty fuse while baking. The McDowell family will temporary reside nearby, with a new house planned on the site.
