Former Troy Principal Now at Poor Farm
A well known former Troy and Edwardsville educator, Prof. A. C. Williams, aged and frail, handed a county poor-farm commitment to Supt. Hermann after a late decline from a celebrated career. Once principal here from 1873 to 1877, he later led Alton schools before a divorce and dissipation ended his prominent public life. He now rests at home under Judge Hillskotter’s gaze, with a few cherished books beside him.
