Troy to vote on disposing light plant for 24 hour service
A large Troy meeting at Rieder’s opera house discussed selling the municipal electric light plant to secure 24 hour light and power from Southern Illinois Light and Power Co. Proponents cited lower rates and modern service, while a petition drive and special election were endorsed. City reports showed deficits in street lighting and plant operations, with figures differing between sources. A six member committee was formed to circulate petitions, and the meeting adjourned.
