The Herrin homestead east of St. Jacob was destroyed by fire, with savings lost. A heroics tale features 11-year-old Robert Rawlings saving Stanley Heim from drowning after cramps in Marine’s reservoir. The town buzzed with repairs, saloon license changes, and community cleaning at the M. E. church.
Adjourned council session notes that electric light collections will occur from the 1st to the 3rd of each month with wire-cut penalties for nonpayment.
